Finnish technology education network, INNOKAS has organized the “Whole Finland is Coding!” program in 11 Finnish cities, including Jyväskylä in Central-Finland. On November 9, 2017, the Jyväskylä-based Experience Workshop had the honor to participate in the events with hands-on robotics workshops based on the Hungarian ReBOT and the Korean 4DMechatronics toolkits.
Connecting areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics in the learning process – as known as STEAM – can get a real boost when it comes to robotics. The participating Finnish elementary school and ICT teachers tried Experience Workshop’s 4Dframe and ReBOT kit, which makes it possible to tinker together robots out of straws or empty boxes and bottles. Some of the teachers created buggies and others made a funtabulastic robot mixer. Perhaps to make some e-food for cyborgs and androids?
In addition to the robots, the teachers could experiment with Micro:bit too, based on INNOKAS’ Micro:bit lesson plans.
It was fun! Thanks to Janne Fagerlund and Tiina Korhonen from Innokas Network the organizing.
